Beat.

I'm too old for this. The past 3 (4?) days are a blur of social events, lunches out, cooking, laughing, and conversation. I have had friends in from out of town, family all over the place, and (if this is possible) entirely too much chocolate and liquor.

Today will be my detox day before starting all over again on Monday and Tuesday. After Tuesday (I think?), the merriment will begin to taper off, mainly because I *wisely* decided to forego hosting a New Year's open house party. (Which, at the time, I opted out of because I was lazy. In hindsight, I was amazingly astute to be such a slug.)

You know you're old when too much food and too much fun makes you feel hung over. 'Nuff said.

I've always wondered if Martha Stewart actually did all the parties and things she writes about. It seems like a couple weeks of that would make anybody ready to put on a santa suit and just kill everybody!

Maybe she's part alien. I've always suspected something like that.

Nah. First of all, she has an army of minions to help cook and set up everything. Once everything's ready, I'll bet she just makes a brief appearance at the event, then goes back home, takes off her bra and high heels, and snuggles with her dogs.

It's the only way.

We had a similar experience this holiday season, only our "merriment" was spent cramped in a car for, oh, 11 hours or so.
Grr.

Ouch. I am sooo glad that most of the family is right here in the metro. It has made the holiday season so much easier on us.

Glad you're back safe!
