Rebekah tagged me for this book meme a while back, but I'm just now getting to it.

The Rules:
* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
* Tag five other people to do the same.

Here goes:
The book - This one's tricky. At my home desk, I've got a hutch overhead that's filled with books. So I grabbed one of them that's not shelved, just perched on the edge of the shelf. That's the best I could do. The book is Selected Plays of Edward Albee.

The sentences - Grandma: People don't say good-bye to old people because they think they'll frighten them. Lordy! If they only knew how awful "hello" and "My, you're looking chipper" sounded, they wouldn't say those things either. The truth is, there isn't much you can say to old people that doesn't sound just terrible.

My tags - I shamefully admit that I'm not going to tag anyone on this one. I know this meme has been going around, and I can't remember who has already completed it yet. Soooo, if you're reading this blog, and you haven't been tagged for this yet, AND you want to share, consider yourself tagged!

The American Dream. Although she was sooo young, I remember Hanna doing a great job on that speech at Millsaps.

Sadly, another memory from that production was Morgan wanting to keep an actor in a single spot of light as he walked around the stage the night before the show opened, to which I replied "you realize the lights don't move, right? You can see them. They're sort of screwed into place where they are."

Have you kept up with Hannah? I'd love to know what she's doing now . . .

That's hilarious about the lights! And so typical, eh?
I keep hoping I'll run across Hannah on facebook or something, but so far nothing and nobody seems to know much more than me.

Can I answer the tag in your comments? Closest book to me is "The Three Musketeers." Here's the sentence:

"Come in gentlemen!" called D'Artangnan. "We are all loyal to the King and to the Cardinal. If you have come for this man, then take him!"

(technically that's three sentences, but it's one thought, and I wanted to keep the quotes together. Daughter likes this book so far. I like the name D'Artangnan. LOL)

I remember seeing Chris O'Donnell in the Three Musketeers movie and thinking he was the hottest. thing. EVER.

Isn't that sad? You quote a great piece of literature and here I sit, salivating over Chris O'Donnell 10 (15?) years ago? This must be what getting old is like . . .
